Not a Tour. A storytelling Experience.
Most Chinatown tours move quickly between landmarks and explain what you're looking at. This one slows down and shows you how the neighborhood actually works.
WHAT THIS EXPERIENCE IS
A guided walk through hidden streets, alleyways, and community spaces that most visitors never find.
Rather than checking off sights, we move at the pace of the neighborhood itself — focused on observation, atmosphere, and the layered stories embedded in everyday places.
Each walk is shaped by the documentary work behind The Mo Lum of San Francisco Chinatown and the long-term relationships that made that film possible.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE
Hidden alleys and back streets beyond typical tourist routes.
Everyday food culture, neighborhood institutions, and community spaces. Stories and context that reveal Chinatown as a living system — not a museum.
A small-group format designed for conversation, questions, and real observation.
A slower, more intentional way of moving through one of America's most layered urban neighborhoods.
FOOD & DRINK
Food and drinks are not included in the experience. The walk passes through local bakeries, tea shops, and neighborhood spots where guests are welcome to stop and purchase on their own. We recommend arriving a little hungry.

Leave With Something That Stays Most people walk through Chinatown and see a neighborhood. This experience is designed to change how you look at it — and how you look at cities generally.
About This Experience
San Francisco Chinatown is where Wander & Taste Stories began.
The relationships, research, and documentary work behind The Mo Lum of San Francisco Chinatown revealed a simple truth: the most meaningful stories are often hidden in plain sight. They live in neighborhood institutions, family businesses, community traditions, and the everyday experiences that rarely make it into guidebooks.
This walking experience grew from that discovery. Chinatown is the first chapter of a larger storytelling project dedicated to exploring the people, places, and traditions that shape communities from within.
As Wander & Taste Stories grows, that work will continue through future walks, films, and documentary projects in Chinatown and beyond.
